Dear Friends of the Manor House:
Thank you for your interest in the Live at Evergreen concerts.
For five years we have enjoyed providing free concerts to
the community to support the mission of preserving and restoring
the Evergreen Manor House. This year brings with it some changes
that come as a result of our success, including (ironically)
a hiatus in the concert series for 2011.
Last year we held six concerts, with record attendance for
each event. Through your generous support, our concert goers
and sponsors, the funds raised have allowed us to do a number
of important things towards achieving our mission. We have
painted, re-built porches, re-pointed the majority of stone,
replaced the original copper gutters, re-built window frames/dormers/mouldings,
organized interior clean up and more. See progress photos
here. We also succeeded in listing Evergreen on the National
Register of Historic Places, a prestigious national honour
that recognizes Evergreens historic significance and
brings with it new opportunities to advance our mission and
raise funds.
Perhaps our most important achievement is we are now ready
to start the first phase of interior restoration, which for
the first time in ~30 years will make the building available
for use again. We have the funds (thanks to you), the plan,
and most importantly agreement with the county, who has worked
closely with us for over a year to get to this point. The
concert series for the summer of 2011 is on hold while we
work out strategic plans with Evergreen CC (owner) around
future fundraising, restoration, and use of the building.
We hope to resume the series later in the year and will email
updates and post information online as we know more.
Best wishes for a great summer,
The Manor House Preservation Fund - June 2011
